Horoeka Cottage is a classic Kiwi bach (holiday home) in a private setting of regenerating native bush within the Puhikereru Bush Garden.
The garden abounds with birdlife and seasonally is filled with the song of tui and korimako as well as thrush and blackbird. At night the calls of ruru and weka can be heard.
Over the last 50 years the cottage has grown from a single room into a comfortable four rooms with a separate, though small, double bedroom, a bunkroom with four bunks and a large living room opening onto a deck. The whole cottage is bright and open.
The cottage is particularly suited to family groups and cot and highchair are available on request. The deck is secure and ideal for young children to safely play outside. The shower can also double as a child’s bath. The cottage sits about 30 metres above Endeavour Inlet with extensive sea and bush views. There is a safe swimming beach about 5 minutes from the cottage and a small dinghy with outboard is available; also a mooring.
The Queen Charlotte Track runs close by, providing day-walk access to Ship Cove. Furneaux Lodge, set in the extensive Howden’s Bush, is about 30 minutes’ walk away.
Please note we do not supply fishing gear.
