The Queen Charlotte Track Contact | Booking |
We are located in the Marlborough Sounds at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Our nearest town is Picton, which is served by ferries from the North Island and air transport from main cities such as Wellington and Nelson. Endeavour Inlet is accessible only by water transport. There are at least three regular launch or water taxi services that each come into our bay several times a day, depending on the time of the year. The websites for each are as follows: There are also Beachcomber Cruises www.mailboat.co.nz and Endeavour Express www.boatrides.co.nz Each of these two have similar departure and arrival times. The best thing to do is to check their web-sites and compare prices for travel to Endeavour Inlet. Fares are generally similar, but each service has a different timetable. For the busy summer holiday time of the year, you would need to book at least a week or two ahead. We live alongside the Queen Charlotte Track, so sometimes our visitors have arrived on foot, having been dropped off elsewhere, usually Ship Cove, by one of the above launch services. We are about four hours' walk from Ship Cove. If you are walking from that direction, you have arrived at our special place when you come to a red boat shed and a jetty right beside the track – it is the first one you will have come directly to since leaving Ship Cove. Come up the shingle path that veers northward up the slope, almost directly behind the boat shed. It is always best to email or phone us before you leave Picton, so that we have an idea of when to expect you. |
